The Flavors of Rochester

The Democrat & Chronicle has a wonderful website called Flavors of Rochester (www.flavorsofrochester.com). The website provides valuable, useful and interesting information about Rochester-area participants in the food and beverage industry that make up – you guessed it – the “flavors of Rochester.”

On the website, you can explore the history of wine in the Finger Lakes through a timeline and photo gallery. You can browse a map of wineries in the region or watch a feature on Dr. Frank’s, the oldest family-owned winery in the Finger Lakes.

There is a map of farmer’s markets to find the one closest to you, and there is also a list of local community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs with contact information if you would like to become involved in one. The website has a section for restaurant inspections that is updated twice monthly and lists violation descriptions as provided by the Monroe County Department of Health.

For the epicurious, you can click on the “I’m in the Mood for” link to get suggestions on local eateries based on your current food or beverage craving. There is also a “Recipes” section with season recipes and a featured Recipe of the Week.

If you are interested in knowing about the flavors that Rochester has to offer (and there are plenty!) then I recommend this site. It’s one-stop-shop for all things food and beverage-related for the Rochester area.
