Wine Spectator Top 100 Reveals Affordable “Best Kept Secrets”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list.  The 2013 Top 100 includes wines from 13 foreign countries and four states:  California, New York, Oregon and Washington.  New York had one wine in the Top 100 list this year.  Our local star, number 33 on Wine Spectator’s list, Ravines Riesling Finger Lakes Dry 2012 is $17 and earned a rating of 91.

The average score of the wines in this year’s Top 100 is 93 points and the average price is $51.  The best values within 10-20 price points in the Top 100 were:

  • Badia a Coltibuono Toscana Cancelli 2011
  • Paring Shiraz Australia 2010
  • Charles Smith Riesling Columbia Valley
  • Valley Kung Fu Girl Evergreen 2012
